Queenship of Mary

thAugust 22, 2014 Ezekiel 37:1-14; Matthew 22:34-40

Today we see Jesus confronted by the leaders of His time who are trying to trip Him up. Jesus deals with them and leaves them with no comeback!

There were over 600 Mosaic Laws … and the Pharisees ask to identify the greatest! They think that picking out any of them could be the controversy they are seeking to set up.

Jesus answers using scripture … and the leaders could not argue. He quotes Deuteronomy 6:5 and answers … “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul.”

AND

He quotes Leviticus 19:18 that says … “You must love your neighbor as yourself.”

“Love” is the common word in both quotes.

Jesus draws attention to the underlying concept behind the multiple laws of the old testament … He summarizes them as Love of God … others … and of self. The driver of all the other laws … commandments … precepts … rules … obligations and responsibilities is “love”.

It is so obvious … yet … we can easily miss that message.

Mary did not miss the message … she is our model for doing all things out of love.

May her example be our driving force as we celebrate her today as our mother and queen.
