Romans 12: 1-2
We hear St. Paul say: “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship.” What was he saying? What did his words really mean? Just to SAY words? Once we say the words to God, God takes us at our word. Paul does not say “offer yourselves to God”…BUT “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship.” For Paul BODY is a word which means Total Person, so it’s not just the BODY we offer but EVERYTHING we ARE.
In other words, “don’t just say the words, but live them.”…A LIVING SACRIFICE — we are not dead, but alive every second we breathe! SACRIFICE –made HOLY by the act of offering and so WE are HOLY and PLEASING to GOD the IMMORTAL, ALL-POWERFUL ONE.
Every second of our life mut be lived in consecration, in complete surrender and abandon to God. Being a LIVING SACRIFICE requires continuous surrender in consecration every moment of life — so do we give glory to God. Are you up for the challenge?
