Reflection by SM Therese Szczepczynski, cssf
Times are tough. This lament is often heard these days when people consider the lack of peace in our world, the natural disasters that have plagued countries and people, the economic situation faced by families, the lack of life’s necessities that are the daily lost of millions.
But when I consider what Mary and Joseph experienced it was no easier.
Trust that it is God who asks this of me — become a mother without the advantage of a husband — flee my homeland with a pregnant woman— believe in my dreams — become compassion for others …
Today’s reading repeat the words of trusting, listening and acting. My trusting, listening and acting need first be directed to the God who allows me to exist in this particular place at this particular time. A focus on him will enable me to move out of myself and into the lives of others where the fruits of my relationship will overflow into actions that will allow the WORD to take on flesh.
