Reflection by Sister Ann Marie Klasky, cssf
December 26th The Second Day of Christmas
The holy season has begun! Christmas is here in all its splendor. Colored lights and candle flame, the glorious music, singing and laughter, feasting and gifting – yes, we must celebrate. Our Savior has been born and our world can never be the same.
But what of this flame which fires our hearts with longing for Him who put on our flesh, and lived our life and died our death? What does this truly mean and how does it make our lives different than they otherwise would have been?
Yes to the colorful lights, the music and the celebration! But also, Yes to quiet and solitude in which to contemplate the Child lying in the manger. Let us gaze with love on Him who saved our lives by giving as gift His own. May this love be born anew in our own hearts. May we freely gift others with our own lives in loving solidarity with Mary and Joseph and all who down through the ages have embraced this Love before us.
