July 14, 2015   Exodus 2:1-15a; Matthew 11:20-24

Indifference calls forth rebuke and warning from Jesus.

While Jesus was performing miracles … people were amazed … they were dazzled and curious. They allowed the wonder to fizzle though … and Jesus rebukes them for their failure to believe in the uniqueness of His good works.

They were hard of heart … and neither Jesus’ preaching … nor His good works could penetrate and soften their hearts to respond appropriately. God showed Himself to these people … but they chose to dwell on other things.

Jesus was looking for a change of heart … but didn’t find it.

This passage can be a reminder to us to stay focused … to resist complacency … and to stay focused and respond to God’s grace and loving kindness.

Let us pray for one another that we may turn our hearts to God … see His mighty deeds among us … and recognize His gift of love to us.
