… they became the chosen people

August 12, 2015     Deuteronomy 34:1-12;   Matt 18:15-20

The first reading from Deuteronomy reminds us that leaders like Moses … are instruments in God’s Hands. Moses answered his call to lead … and cared for the Israelites through their grueling journey. Moses dedicated his life to helping the people know and act according to God’s will.

Through their journey … they became the chosen people … growing closer to God.

The Gospel reading carries on this same thought … helping us see the importance of being members of a chosen people … the people of God … the church.

In both readings … we see how God works through people who are loving and faithful to their call.

As members of the Body of Christ … we reap the benefits of a loving relationship … a unity among us.

Let us contemplate this unity … that we may live and act more consciously in the dignity that is ours as God’s people.
