October 22, 2015     Romans 6:19-23;   Luke 12:49-53

Being Christian … being faithful … is not always easy!

In the first reading … St. Paul calls on the Romans to appreciate that God’s ways are beyond human understanding … and that faithfulness requires a new vision … a new way of behaving.

Paul calls them to a commitment of a spiritual nature … a commitment to goodness … a righteousness that will bring about their sanctification and life without end.

In the Gospel … Jesus shakes things up. He wants us on fire for Him … but He acknowledges that His teachings will cause problems for many people.

Believing … following … will be difficult … but our perseverance will be worthwhile because it will ensure that we will be found

Commitment to a true Christian life and the following Jesus is challenging … but … the rewards are eternal.
