“Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd, they opened up the roof above him.”
Words from our gospel today, the gospel of Mark.
Sometimes we have to tear the roof off the building to bring someone to God.
We all have that someone in our lives.
That person who won’t budge.
The person paralyzed.
The person in sin.
Jesus responds to the faith of four men who went to extremes to bring someone to him.
In Mark’s gospel, faith always is a precursor to healing.
It wasn’t the faith of the paralyzed man that brought about his healing.
It was the faith of his supporters.
Sometimes praying for someone is just enough.
But sometimes it requires much more.
Tactful and prudent, but radical.
